Among his award winning golf courses are: The Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes, The Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Hall, The Golf Club of Georgia, TPC at Eagle Trace, Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort, Bonita Bay, Harbour Point, The Champions, Half Moon Bay, Bighorn, Collier’s Reserve; and, most recently, Bay Harbor, a 27-hole facility set along the cliffs of Lake Michigan that critics are hailing as the "Pebble Beach of the Midwest" and which Golf Magazine already has ranked as the 8th best public course in the United States.

In the Washington, D.C. area, Hills has completed renovations for Bethesda Country Club and Chevy Chase Club, and has recently completed master plans for Burning Tree Club, Congressional Country Club, and The Country Club of Fairfax. He is currently designing an exciting new daily fee course in Montgomery County called Blue Mash, also being developed by Joe Hills and Tom Healy of Waverly Woods, and finished the spectacular new course at Lowes Island Club in Northern Virginia in 1998.

When describing his creation at Waverly Woods, one of the aspects Arthur Hills likes to point out is the wide landing areas for tee shots. "We have found that golfers really enjoy hitting to wide fairways, and we have provided that here while still enhancing the strategy of both tee shots and approach shots. At over 7,000 yards from the back tees, the combination of wide fairways and smaller greens creates a delightful challenge for the good golfers. For shorter hitters, the course is designed so that a drive hit from the proper set of tees will catch a downhill slope, adding yardage to virtually every tee shot. The land and the routing work together to create a beautiful, enjoyable course for golfers of all skill levels."

Based on his illustrious career, golfers can believe it when Arthur Hills says Waverly Woods is a special golf course. Year after year Golf Digest, Golf Magazine, and scores of other golf publications across the country bestow their highest honors upon Arthur Hills golf courses. Golf Digest has honored Hills by selecting courses of his design in its annual register of America’s Best New Courses and America’s Top 100 Courses. Among the courses honored by Golf Digest are the Golf Club of Georgia, near Atlanta, selected as 1991’s "Best New Private Course"; Harbour Point near Seattle, 1991’s "Best New Public Course"; Bonita Bay, a nationally recognized pioneer for environmental sensitivity, Windsor Parke in Jacksonville, Florida, and the TPC at Eagle Trace, site of the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic for eleven years.

Hills’ courses are also consistently included in Golf Magazine’s annual list of outstanding courses to play. Among Hills’ courses thus designated are the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Hall and the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes Resort, on Hilton Head, South Carolina; the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort, in San Antonio, Texas, and the aforementioned Bay Harbor, in Petoskey, MI.

Other Hills’ courses recognized for their beauty and playability include Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert, California, home of the nationally televised Skins Game, 1992 through 1995; and Collier’s Reserve in Naples, Florida, the world’s first Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Signature Course a distinction granted by the International Audubon Society.

Arthur Hills currently has about twenty projects in various stages of design or construction, including one project for hotel and casino magnate Donald Trump, who selected Hills last year to design his new, world-class, Seven Springs Resort Club outside New York City.
